- < Has anyone written a "Drawing Size" dialog a la MacDraw in MacApp 2.0
-
-
- Grady Booch, of Ada fame, has written a MacDraw "Drawing Size" dialog box
- for an application he call the Optical Bench. This application allows the user
- to set up a variety of optics experiments, like those done in physics labs.
-
- This application, including the source code, will be part of Grady's new
- book on object-oriented design. I reviewed the manuscript of this book
- several months ago for the publisher, Benjamin-Cummings.
-
- I have read a lot of stuff on OOD -- most of it is boring and useless.
- Grady's work is a welcome change from this -- it is really excellent. In the
- book he presents an OOD methodogy and then uses this methodology to implement
- five applications -- each in a different language. The languages covered
- include Smalltalk, C++, Object Pascal, CLOS, and Ada. In each, Grady is true
- to the spirit and style of the individual languages.
-
- As I told both Grady and his publisher, I will be giving a copy of this
- book to each of the members of my group as soon as it comes out. I have never
- done this before.
